Landsborough River Rafting
Visit one of New Zealand’s most remote areas on this three day river trip. Untouched, unspoiled and visited by only a privileged few, the Landsborough Valley luxury camping provides the setting for a truly unique wilderness experience. Camp and paddle your way down the Landsborough River, glide past hanging glaciers, magnificent 10,000ft mountains and dense rainforests.
There will be plenty of time to explore the pristine area or simply relax around the campfire with your rafting companions. All you require is a sense of adventure and love of the great outdoors. This adventure is open to people of average fitness and all ages.
Check out the Optional Brodrick Pass Walk before the rafting trip.

ITINERARY -
DAY 1 -
We will travel to Cavells Rafting Lodge where you will meet your guides, pack your gear into dry bags, and be sized for your rafting clothing. Our bus will depart Cavells and begin a 3 hour drive to Clarke Bluff via Wanaka and Makarora.
There we will board a helicopter or fixed wing plane for a flight up the scenic Landsborough Valley to our first night’s camp. Settle in, unpack and explore the magnificent surroundings, or relax in this peaceful environment and enjoy a delicious 3-course meal prepared for us.
DAY 2 -
We begin with a leisurely breakfast and then prepare to leave camp for our rafting adventure. A full safety briefing and information on river protocol will be given before we depart. Today we have a five hour river trip, catering from action to the sedate, stopping to enjoy a deli-style picnic lunch above Hellfire Rapid and then continuing down river arriving at Harpers Bluff, our second camp. There will be time to try out a spot of fishing, or go for a walk before dinner.
After dinner explore the surrounds and maybe even discover a glow worm or two.
DAY 3 -
A filling breakfast will set us up for the day’s activities. We board our rafts and head down river to Purple Creek for lunch, and a side hike to explore the waterfalls. After lunch we enjoy a leisurely float to our takeout point at Clarke Bluff.
Environmental Issues in the Landsborough Valley -
Many of New Zealand's bird species are threatened by predators. Clients who choose to raft the Landsborough River will be contributing in a small but significant way to eradicating the pests which prey on endangered native birds. There may be an opportunity to assist with this programme on your trip.
